Blind School Relief Mosaics

I created mosaic relief sculptures for the Pennsylvania School for the Blind’s new playground. The installation included workshops where I led young blind children to create little sculptures for the relief wall. I gave them cookie cutter templates that they put on top of clay to cut out fish designs that they then helped color with ceramic glazes. Their work greets people as they enter the playground. I created a tactile back wall of the playground with compositions that include dogs, cats, rabbits, bees, ladybugs, flowers, crocodiles, spiders and other elements that are fun to feel and touch.
